The theme “Africans Americans“ is a really important and big theme for everyone. This is an issue that has been around for many years.
In the past, there were many dark-skinned people who were of great importance and still have today. In 2009, Barack Obama became the first dark-skinned president of the United States. You couldn’t imagine anything like that at the time, because African Americans had a lower position than white ones. Martin Luther King also plays a major role with his speech “I have a dream“. He gave his speech to more than 250,000 people. He talks about wanting equality and freedom for all. They do it when they work together.
A major event of 2020 is the death of Geroge Floyd. A white man killed him, a white police officer. He stoles something small in a shop and the police then pulled him out of the car. The policeman pushed him on the ground and stood with his knee on his neck. George Floyd screamed for air and his mom. His phrase “I can’t breathe!‘‚ has gone through half the world. The policeman probably doesn’t like black citizens and that was related to racism. He shouldn’t have killed him. You can punish someone for clawing but you don’t have to take their breath away.
At school we read a book called “A lesson before dying“ by Ernest J.Gaines. There, the young African-American Jefferson witnesses a murder and is charged as a murderer. At the end of the novel, he is executed and dies unjustly.
A big point on the African American issue is: racism. You can’t get rid of racism entirely, but you can reduce it and no longer hurt people psychologically. African Americans are being molested and marginalized because of their beautiful skin color? Are you hated and despised because you don’t speak the same language as we? Everyone is the same and everyone deserves the same!
Today, African-Americans are still indirectly delimited or discriminated against because health care is weaker in poorer neighborhoods, and there is often poorer air and nutrition is not good. Often these people live below the poverty line. And often only because they are not seen as worthy or as real people. Racial segregation used to be a big issue and is actually banned now. Yet it still persists because African Americans often live in African American communities and whites in white communities. In terms of health care, it is also divided into poor health care and good or better health care in the white communities. African Americans are still lagging behind when it comes to education because the quality of schools in the black quarters is significantly worse than that of the whites. In addition, blacks also have a bad chance of a good future (in terms of work).
Black Lives Matter (BLM) is an international movement that has emerged within the African-American community in the United States and is fighting violence against black people and people of color. #BLM #blm #BLackLivesMatter
Nowadays it is also noticeable that African Americans are more likely to be portrayed badly and angrily in the news or in the newspapers for criminal activities. In the case of white citizens, this is often not shown in the media because blacks are worse people on principle, say the whites.
